Cantey Hanger Partner Daniel Baucum Recognized by D Magazine as ‘Best Lawyer’ in Taxation for 2014

FORT WORTH, TX – Cantey Hanger LLP Partner Daniel Baucum, who advises clients in business and tax planning, has been selected to the 2014 D Magazine list of Best Lawyers in Dallas. His recognition is in the category Tax: General and it is the third time he has made the magazine’s list.

The 505 attorneys selected are listed in the May 2014 edition. According to the magazine, lawyers with a valid Texas bar number were asked to nominate two lawyers outside their firm and one within their firm. Spych Market Analytics processed the votes and created a statistical algorithm to determine the cutoff. Then, a panel of lawyers evaluated the Best Lawyers in Dallas 2014 list. The panel’s anonymity was assured, so the lawyers could speak freely about issues that would only be known within the legal community.

“I am humbled and honored by my colleagues counting me worthy of inclusion in D Magazine’s 2014 list of best tax lawyers,” Baucum said. “I will strive to deserve their recognition and my clients’ trust.”

Baucum’s practice areas are business transactions and tax planning involving limited liability companies, partnerships, S corporations and C corporations. He also counsels clients in the purchase and sale of their business, cross-border transactions, private equity fund transactions, and Internal Revenue Service and Texas Comptroller controversies, including audits, appeals and litigation.

In addition, he teaches business and tax law at the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University. While practicing in Washington, D.C. he taught IRS Practice and Procedure in the Graduate Tax Law Program at Georgetown University’s Law Center.

He is rated “AV” Preeminent (5.0 out of 5.0) by Martindale Hubbell Legal Directory. The Tax Section of the State Bar of Texas awarded Baucum with its Distinguished Service Award at the Bar’s 2013 annual convention.
