FORT WORTH, TX –Brian Brisco and Joshua Ross have been admitted as equity partners in Cantey Hanger LLP, Managing Partner Michael Appleman announced.
A native of Fort Worth, Brisco joined Cantey Hanger in 2010 after graduating from Baylor University School of Law. Ross, a graduate of St. Mary’s University School of Law, joined the firm in 2015 after several years in the Tarrant County District Attorney’s office. “Both are outstanding attorneys who have been significant contributors to our success,” Appleman said.
Brisco’s practice focuses primarily on health care litigation, including medical malpractice defense and representation of health care providers in administrative proceedings. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Baylor University in 2000 and earned a Master’s in Theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2003 and a Master’s in Near Eastern Archaeology from the University of Chicago in 2005. At Baylor, he was senior executive editor of the Law Review and was recognized with the Brian J. Serr Excellence in Appellate Advocacy Award.
Ross, also from Fort Worth, spent more than a decade as lead counsel in high profile litigation as an Assistant Criminal District Attorney in Tarrant County, which included cases involving organized crime, capital murder, narcotics trafficking, fraud, and many other serious felony criminal offenses. With more than 70 trials to jury verdict, thousands of appearances before the Grand Jury, and thousands more courtroom appearances, Ross joined Cantey Hanger to practice white collar criminal defense in federal and state court, general civil and administrative litigation, and defense of Texas physicians, hospitals, and health care providers in all legal forums.
Ross earned his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Texas and studied Concepts of Foreign Legal Systems, The Internationalization of the Legal Profession, and issues relating to Comparative Constitutional Law under U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia while at St. Mary’s.
Jordan Parker, Chairman of the firm’s Litigation Section, said “Brian and Josh have very different backgrounds and bring diverse skills to our practice, so it is interesting that they happen to be childhood friends who ended up at the same firm and made partner the same year. We are glad to have them both.”
