FORT WORTH, TX – Partner Dan Baucum, who advises clients in business and tax planning, has been selected by the Fort Worth Business Press as a 2014 Power Attorney whose reputation in law is unmatched.
Honorees were nominated by their peers and selected by a panel of judges based on criteria including leadership qualities, community involvement, mentoring, contribution to firm growth and differences they have made in the legal industry.
Dan will be honored at the 2014 Fort Worth Business Press Power Attorneys awards ceremony and dinner on Oct. 8th at the Omni in Ft. Worth.
Baucum’s practice areas are business transactions and tax planning using limited liability companies, partnerships and other pass-through entities for small- to middle-market businesses, domestic and cross-border business transactions, private equity fund transactions and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) controversies.
He represents clients in tax audits, appeals and in court. In addition, he teaches business and tax law at the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University.
Texas Lawyer selected Baucum in 2012 as one of five finalists in tax law for its Go-To Lawyer award. Twice, D Magazine has listed him as a prominent tax lawyer as voted by peers. He is rated “AV” Preeminent (5.0 out of 5.0) by Martindale Hubbell Legal Directory.
Baucum is chairman of the Partnership and Real Estate Tax Committee for the State Bar of Texas Section of Taxation, is a council member for the tax section of the Dallas Bar Association and a member of the American Bar Association’s Business and Tax Sections.
Baucum received his undergraduate degree in business administration from Southern Methodist University, earned a Master of Laws in Taxation from the New York University School of Law and a juris doctor from Dedman School of Law.
